Abstract

Introduction: Autofiction has become a phenomenon of an era, representing a society that increasingly demonstrates the need to talk about the individual and their subjectivity, through the fictionalization of facts of life. The theme goes beyond the walls of academia and is made up of three essential factors: diverse theories, controversial debates regarding the ambiguity of the narrative and the growth in the number of autofictional works and authors being awarded. Objective: The backbone of the work begins with the problematization of the literary strategies commonly used in these works – intertextuality and metafiction – and how they impact the ambivalence of the narrative. The mixture of real and fictional is a controversial issue in autofiction, thus, the complexity of the creation process in autofiction is explored, having as one of the elements precisely ambiguity and the path it takes in writing, from the perspective of genetic criticism. The reflections have as an analytical exercise the book Pai, pai, by João Silvério Trevisan (2017), expanding the research on this contemporary work which is still so little studied. Material and Methods: an analysis of a vast French and Brazilian bibliography regarding autofiction and its aesthetic resources was carried out, in addition to the study of artistic creation procedures. Result: the hypothesis is that the aesthetic resources applied seek to provoke greater ambivalence between reality and fiction and, at the same time, reinforce the effect of reality. The author transforms what he experiences into fiction, incorporating real facts into his creative process and creating aesthetic resources to shape his work. The connection between reality and fiction occurs through a mediated and sensitive form that is translated into aesthetic activity, and this ambiguous narrative adds an important contribution to the studies of autofiction: the legitimization of ambivalence as a creative procedure
