Abstract: This dissertation sets out to investigate a field of research present in Joseph Schumpeter’s work, namely, economic sociology as a field of study of the economist. Constituting an institutional and evolutionary analysis of economic phenomena, it is argued that the comprehension of capitalism as an historical process is one of its main applications. Although his contribution to the field is concentrated in the second part of Capitalism, Socialism and Democracy, there are traces of economic sociology scattered in other writings of his, and its origins lie mainly in the German Historical School of Economics. In order to better understand this contribution our initial bibliographical review also rest upon two authors who organized the methodological foundations and substantive applications of schumpeterian economic sociology: Richard Swedberg and Yuichi Shionoya. Based on a systematic review of literature by searching terms related to a research question regarding the schumpeterian understanding of capitalism from the perspective of economic sociology, we’ve selected articles whose contributions could be identified with aspects of Schumpeter’s economic sociology, organized along six thematic axes. In what follows, we’ve compared such contributions with the interpretations of Swedberg and Shionoya, a discussion which provided both a better understanding of Schumpeter’s economic sociology and allowed a suggestion of a schumpeterian research program in the field. The results attained through our investigation underscored the importance of considering economic sociology not only to better understand Schumpeter’s work, but also as an indispensable analytical tool to a correct understanding of the nature and logic of capitalism

Abstract: This article aims to analyze Celso Furtado's contribution to ecodevelopmentbased on a set of books published during the period of the economic miracle, between1968and 1973. In addition to the bibliographical analysis of the miracle, the secondaryobjectiveaims to reconcile the debate on the environment of the period with Celso Furtado's criticismof the Club of Rome in The Myth of Economic Development (1974). The set of worksanalyzed is faithful to a regional and heterogeneous perception of Brazil's ecodevelopment. This search for understanding ecodevelopment is present in all of the author's works intheperiod, highlighting his alignment with the international environmental framework. For this,in addition to the works published by Furtado in the miracle, it is necessary touseothersources of information such as an interview, the use of letters and his intermittent diary. Thearticle is structured in a systematic bibliographical review, started in Aproject for Brazil(1968); passing through Latin American economic formation (1969); later in Analysis oftheBrazilian model (1972); and finally in United States hegemony and LatinAmericanunderdevelopment (1973). In this way, the ecological debate between the United Nations, theClub of Rome and Celso Furtado is consolidated. These works present a constancyinthematuration of Furtado's thought in denouncing the consequences of deforestationthroughmonoculture based on satisfying consumption patterns, as well as showing howFurtado'sdiagnosis of the environment draws from the ecological context of the period andhowhe 8addresses, in its trajectory, alternatives for the dynamics of technical progress intheeconomics of renewable resources and Ecodevelopment

Abstract: This dissertation evaluates possible changes in the Inflation Targeting Regime (ITR) in Brazil and their impact on key macroeconomic variables. Using a small-scale model inspired by new Keynesian economics, three scenarios of changes in the ITR were analyzed: raising the inflation target, expanding the monetary policy horizon, and incorporating the output gap into the monetary policy rule. The results reveal that raising the inflation target leads to higher interest rates and inflation, with modest gains in economic activity. Expanding the monetary policy horizon results in prolonged high inflation, but with lower volatility over time. On the other hand, incorporating the output gap into the monetary policy rule provides marginal smoothing of the business cycle but comes with significant costs in terms of monetary policy and inflation. These findings contribute to the ongoing debate on potential changes in the ITR, emphasizing the importance of considering the complexities and possible counterintuitive consequences of such changes

Abstract: Health policy in Brazil as we know it resulted from more than a century of struggles and demands. During this period, the country experienced the adoption of the most diverse measures, in different social, economic, and political contexts. From the years of empire to the new republic, they adapted and contributed, one by one, to the formation within Brazilian society of movements that would demand the creation of a public and universal health system, which would fully meet the population’s needs. In 1988, health became everyone's right and a responsibility of the State. However, although foreseen in the Constitution, the transfer of limited resources to SUS was not able to guarantee it as such. Since its early years, many were the challenges faced to finance it and, thus, make available the values capable of maintaining the quality of the services offered and its operation. Many were also the proposals that emerged to face the problem and, more recently, some stood out for their contribution to the most current discussions. This work intends to discuss the history of public health in Brazil and, through a critical reading of the bibliography, discuss the main problems related to its financing, seeking to present the proposals to solve them based on the analysis of the plans elaborated by relevant institutions
